Growing up Japanese in Hawai‘i, Boys’ Day was a time to celebrate the strength, health, and future of our sons. And I’m fortunate to have 3!
This day always brings back memories. It takes me to a time when my sons were young.
When I first got my start, one of my sons would play quietly right under my desk while I worked to build my career. Those were busy days, full of ambition and love.
Now, as a proud mother of three grown sons and grandmother to a new generation, Boys’ Day holds even deeper meaning. It reminds me not only of the values we pass down — hard work, kindness, humility, and resilience — but of how family traditions carry us through each stage of life.
I’m grateful to witness that legacy continue through my children and grandchildren.
Boys’ Day is a time to honor the strength, character, and potential of our sons and grandsons. It’s also a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come — as individuals, as families, and across generations.
I’m thankful for the traditions that remind us of what matters most: family, and love that stands the test of time and distance. No matter how far my boys go, Hawai‘i and being here with me is always "home."
