Every year when Christmas comes around, I’m reminded of my brother Kurt. This was his favorite season. When I pull out the holiday wreath with his photo, it feels like he’s right here with us, smiling at all the magic and chaos that comes with this time of year.
Our home is fully decked out for the season, just the way he’d love it: pigs flying to the North Star, Santa cruising in a red wagon, Stitch up on the roof, snowmen, and all the fun light-up decor that makes this time of year feel extra special.
One of the traditions I look forward to most, our Annual Client Appreciation Trolley Ride, fills my heart. I can’t help but feel like Kurt is along for the ride, soaking in every twinkle.
We start the evening at my home on Lowrey Avenue, where we’ll wait for the trolley to arrive. The keiki will have gingerbread houses to build, and we'll talk story and warm up with homemade chili and hot apple cider. It’s cozy, relaxed, and always one of the highlights of my year.
Our festive trolley will pull up, ready to take us for a ride to see the Honolulu City Lights at Thomas Square. No matter how many times I’ve hosted this event, seeing the lights reflected in everyone’s faces (especially first-timers) reminds me why this tradition means so much to me. It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and enjoy the magic of the season together.
This tradition isn’t just about the lights or the parade; it’s about all of you. It’s my way of saying mahalo for your trust, your support, and the relationships we’ve built. I can’t imagine a better way to end the year, and I can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!
